Smile Sickle Cell Foundation takes its humanitarian efforts channeled towards saving lives of people living with Sickle Cell disease to the less privileged patients who have very little access to health care facilities and sickle cell management centres.
Providing drugs for SCD Patients
Smile sickle cell foundation assistance programmes, play a critical role in the health sector in Africa, precisely in Nigeria. Presently our activities are restricted to Nigeria, but in the foreseeable future we intend to expand our reach to the countries in the western sub-Sahara areas of Africa.
Many outreach programs have already being carried out in the Federal Capital Territory city of Nigeria, Abuja and Nasarawa states in the north central region of Nigeria.
In this outreaches we;
SCD patients with routine drugs and anti-mosquito net
- Educate the public on how to prevent sickle cell disease by making conscious effort in selecting the right partner.
- Test the public to know their genotype.
- Provide cancelling and advice to patients on how to manage sickle cell crises.
- Provide SCD patients with routine drugs and anti-mosquito treated nets.
SCD seminar at a school
We also engage the younger generation in their schools by spreading the awareness of sickle cell disease and its prevention. The general public (both the literate and non-literate) are not left out, to boast our effort in bringing SCD to its knees.
